Nice hotel in great location. Rooms are clean, updated very nicely and since it is an old building, they are not cookie cutter! Staff is very friendly and efficient.
The girls on the front desk team were super friendly, but one of the male workers was really impolite.
Wonderful experience. The staff were incredible and no request was too big. Rooms were clean, modern and cosy. Will be back for sure
The man at the front desk was so rude that he smashed the receiver of the phone, scolded the customer, and hung up the phone at the same time. We would like you to think twice before you check into this hotel to avoid this kind of rude treatment.
Do not stay in a room with a balcony! We stayed there recently on the 7th floor and the balcony was a haven for pigeons in the evening, we could hear them all night long. The room was clean , bed was comfortable, service was good. Elevator was vintage but worked well.
Amazing stay at the doubletree. Great location, everything you need within walking distance, great food and Amazing staff. We can't wait to return for another weekend away.
Perfect location. Marcus was fabulous, he upgraded us to a suit as our earlier room was at the lower floor and was noisy because of road works. Breakfast was great and as usual double tree cookies are delicious.
The building and some facilities are quite old, like the elevator, which I think adds some character. Worry not, the rooms are all modern with the usual amenities. The hotel is centrally located with shops within walking distance and major bus line stops just outside the doors.
Outdated Infrastructure and Unprofessional Service1. Poor Soundproofing: The room’s soundproofing is severely inadequate, with persistent noise from water running through the pipes in the walls. This significantly disrupts any sense of comfort or tranquility.2. Parking Mismanagement: The hotel oversells its parking spaces, often leaving guests without options if they return late in the evening. A previous review on the same issue received a response from the front office manager, Marcos, which contradicts the actual service provided. There is no clear guidance on what to do when parking is unavailable. Attempts to contact the number on the parking permit went unanswered. After visiting the lobby, we were instructed to use the parking machine, only to discover it allowed a maximum duration of 12 hours, requiring us to wake up at 7 a.m. to extend the parking manually. After several frustrating trips to the lobby, a staff member eventually intervened to assist through their system.3. Parking Door Inconvenience: Accessing the parking area is unnecessarily complicated, as the door can only be opened by staff and not with a guest’s room card. This caused delays of 10–20 minutes if the staff were attending to other guests. A simple solution, such as enabling room card access or adding an open button at the front desk, would eliminate this inconvenience.4. Privacy Violations: Despite placing a “Do Not Disturb” tag on the door handle, we returned to find the bed had been made. While no other cleaning was performed, this raises serious concerns about privacy and security. It is unsettling to know staff entered the room against our explicit wishes.Overall Impression: The staff appear to prioritize their convenience over guest satisfaction, resulting in inefficiencies and frustration. Combined with privacy concerns and outdated infrastructure, the experience leaves much to be desired. Guests are left questioning the professionalism and safety of staying at this hotel.
Heritage building, with art shows from local artists rotates regularly. Friendly and nice staff. Exceptional location right at the heart of the Lambton Quay. The slight downside is a bit noisy from the street at night but otherwise perfect.
we stayed in a two-bedroom apartment for 3 nights. This apartment has a great location, friendly staff, good facilities.
No heat!!! Called about it. They brought up a small space heater. Too small to make a difference. No one fixed the heat. Hilton needs to take its name off this property. Poor housekeeping.
Although located in old, historic building, the hotel is quite well maintained and modernised. Rooms are really spacious and have all necessary amenities. Beds are big and comfortable, even bathrooms are modern and much better standard compared to other more modern hotels. Staff was helpful and efficient. Best thing is location right in the centre of Welly, next to all government offices and tourist attractions.
Unique hotel, well ventilated lobbies and rooms, very nice complimentary condiments, tranquil ambience. The style is unique and they do their best to cater for your needs. There is an Italian restaurant on L1.There is not much I could give improvements on but one thing is the coffee table beside the bed had coffee/cup stains on it that would be removed if it was wiped.
Quick one night stop but everyone was lovely, the restaurant was great, and the beds were comfortable
Staff and location are top-notch. Even though it's right in the heart of the city, it is very quiet at night. The room was a double (two queen beds), and it was mostly very clean and modern, but there were greasy handprints on the fabric headboards, which was a little off-putting.I would still recommend this hotel.
We stayed two nights at this hotel. Finding it is not easy, it is in a building in the center, but very little signposted. Among the lights and signs there is a simple pair of brand flags, which are really barely visible. At check-in, a free chocolate cookie is given as per practice in this Hilton group chain. Private parking is available, but unfortunately too small compared to the number of rooms, so we were forced to find alternative parking. The furniture and internal structure are in 1920s style. One lift was out of order and the other was very slow and noisy. The room is basic, with a good sized bathroom, kettle, coffee and tea, mini bar for a fee, breakfast is served on floor 1 in an elegant room, the quality of the food is not great, the hot dishes were not hot and the desserts were really basic. The price is low, but unfortunately the quality is too!
Great location for this hotel. Very much like the other double trees I have stayed in.
Well located hotel. Clean room. No valet service. We checked in at 10:00 p.m. Complicated parking. Should we park on the 5th floor or 7 floor. We have to do a few pirouettes in the surrounding streets. Narrow parking. Difficult access. Level floor…We got a ticket, parked on the 5th but not in a space reserved 🙄 for the hotel. We didn't know. Bad directions from staff, not very helpful. The bedroom windows are not waterproof, you can hear a lot of outside traffic. Hearty lunches but very expensive.
All good, with both staff and hotel, would stay again. Check in smooth. Parking instructions could be a little bit clearer.
Nice hotel in downtown Wellington across the street from the ferry terminal. It was perfect for us before catching an early ferry the next morning. Rooms were big, clean, and beds were exceptional. The parking lot is underground and can be tight around the turns.
It was OK, service desk was lacking in helpful information and some staff came across as unsure of what to do in some situations
Great location. Great rooms. The staff are fantastic - always friendly and helpful.
An elegant older building beautifully and tastefully restored with spacious, comfortable rooms and excellent, helpful staff. The location could not be better for access to the city centre's extensive shopping and restaurants, the waterfront, and civic buildings.
Second double tree I’ve stayed at and well worth. The room was nice and food was good!!
Excellent service and great roomsPricey but it pays to treat yourself once a while
Stayed here a few times. Favourite place to stay in Wellington. Cute little hotel with old style charm.
Fabulous rooms, reception service was welcoming, great location. Except the drinks and health shots, breakfast was disappointing.
Excellent location for visiting the city - close to many of the main attractions. The historic cable car is directly next door. The beautiful harbour is a 3-minute walk. Very welcoming staff, large and comfortable rooms
The hotel has a modern vintage feel. I was very impressed with the spacious bedrooms ( loved the tall ceilings ) & the warm moody color scheme. Staff were extremely proactive & helpful at reception & in the restaurant. I highly rate the meal & drinks we had. Wish we could have stayed longer
The hotel looks old but in an acceptable condition. I would not suggest paying extra for the breakfast if it is not included. The location was convenient and very close to the wellington train station.
Great welcome experience, and their welcome cookie's are awesome. Centrally located in Wellington with working distance to all amenities such as woolworths and fast food selection.New trip with room upgrade
Great location, tidy rooms. Here for a birthday weekend. Loved the warm cookies on arrival. Shout out to Rahul front desk who was very helpful at check-in and offered to show us room options. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Best things about it is the central location near the harbour, museum and cable car. Room was small. Bed was comfortable. Free cookies and snacks provided with nice tea bags but basic coffee sachets only.Didn’t clean the room on day 2 which was annoying as they said we put our ‘do not disturb’ sign up, but we were away all day with no sign on the handle. The air con is tightly controlled so we could not turn it up above 23C so it was freezing at night. Asked for a blanket which was provided. I am sure this made my ear/sinus infection worse. I opted out of breakfast two out of four mornings as it’s very basic if it’s included in your booking. Will stay in the intercontinental next time.
The rooms were comfortable and the bathroom was neat and well presented. The staff were very friendly and helpful. But it came down to location, location, location. Perfect spot to see Wellington with a bus stop less than 100m walk and across from Woolworths and cable car. Fantastic!
I had a great time here. The location is great and the rooms were big, modern, and clean. People have commented that the staff was unfriendly but I found they were very nice. There is bird sh** covering all the balconies and the gym is tiny but other than that, I'd definitely stay again. They also let me check in hella early and have a late checkout. Cheers.
This Hilton is set in 1900s building so do bare in mind the boutique vibe. Our room was spacious and loved the shower. The location was spot on CBD centre near to all awesome shops and waterfront.Everything was at walking distance.Only Con I can say is the restaurant though it’s got a new ownership and name, they can do better with their menu. There is no pool, they do have a gym which we never had time to check out.Our housekeeping forgot to change towels, I suppose they were not finished yet when I came and closed the door. So it’s alright. Will I come back? Sure will!
